   was found about four miles from the tragic spot, still alive and clinging madly to the hour. She emigrated to America shortly afterwards and there died of heart failure at the age of thirty three. The doctor attending her, stated that death was due to some great shock she had received some years before that.
   Six weeks after the fatal accident Melican's body was found floating outside the Querrin shore.

   When May Melican, daughter of Jack, was ten years of age, she was found drowned in the blessed well. It happened in this way. Her aunt sent her to the well for a bucket of water, and seeing that she had not returned within an hour, she (the aunt) went searching
