Dhíolaidís cuid aca acht do choimeádaidís an chuid is mó díobh ar salann no dtighthib féin mar lón bídh. Bhíodh siad istigh i mbarrille aca ach roimh dul a codladh díobh gach oidhche thógaidís amach an méad díobh a bheadh ag taisteál uatha an lá ina dhiaidh, chrocaidís ós cionn na teineadh iad chun iad do thiormú.
