I
In the village of Ballyfarnon
Some eleven miles from Boyle
Twenty-four of our brave Irish boys
Began their daily toil.
II
They were searching for Republicans
Though mountain's and though dale
Returned home each evening.
With sweet but thrilling tales.
III
Now the "Bolshies" as they called them
Were always out of sight
But seemed to haunt Ballyfarnon
Every Saturday night.
IV
The soldier put on sentry
Got his orders plain + clear
Dont be frightened of those "Bolshies"
The'll never venture near.
