  1. Some years ago there lived a man in Co. Sligo named Brian Brady. He was so old that his head was bent down to his knee. The night he died he was left on a door in the bed and the only plan they had to straighten him was to leave a flag on his breast and another one on his knees. In those days the girls and women used to go to the wakes as well as men. When a crowd was gathered some play boy when he got the opportunity took the flag off the dead man's breast. As soon as the flag was removed the man sat up in the bed straighter than ever he was. All the girls, women and men when they saw the corpse sitting up they ran for the door and they rushed so much that they
