- "Fairy Forts"
There is a fairy fort in Smuterna. It was always called a fort by the old people. Long ago there were more forts in view of it but they are taken away now. It is circular with a big fence of stones around it. The people never heard of any-one going into it so they dont know what sort it is inside. There is no story told about it connected with Danes but it is believed that the fairies leaves a black cat outside of it to guard the place at night.
There is another fort in Derrycashel and it is called a rath. There are more forts in view of it. It circular with a fence of trees around it. There is a story told about a woman that went out and left a baby in the cradle but when she came back the child was(continues on next page)- Collector
