  1. Many years ago there was an old hedge school in this district. The name of this school was Woodfield. Three was a Master teaching in it, he was a local teacher named Master Corcoran. He did not lodge anywhere around as he had a house of his own in Crossna. He was paid a salary by the people living in the district.
    The school was an old farmhouse thatched with straw, it had flagged floor and small windows. The subjects that were taught were, writing, reading, and Arithmetic. There
