- There is an old road called the "Green Road" in this district. It got this name owing to all the green grass that is growing on it. It leads from Thomas Leydon's cross-roads to Smutterna. There is another road leading from Knockvicar to the "Green Road" which was made in the Famine Times. In those days the men got ten pence only for their days wages. They got a small sum of money for the making of the road.
There was a road made in the Famine Times called the "Stirabout Road". It got that name because the men that made it got stirabout(continues on next page)- Collector
