- "Fairy Forts."
There is only one fort in my school district and it is called "The Fort". It is in the townland of Derrycashel. There are other forts but they are not in my school district there is one of them in Cryanstown and there is another in Shanvilla. The fort in Derrycashel and the fort in Shanvilla are in view of one another. All the forts are circles. There is a fence of stones around the fort in Cryanstown, and there is a fence of bushes around the fort in Shanvilla, and there is a fence of trees around the fort in Derrycashel. They were built by the Danes long ago. Some of them used to be guarded by dogs, and more of them by cats. People never interfere with them. There is a story told about the Shanvilla fort. A woman who lived near it long ago, went out and left a baby asleep(continues on next page)- Collector
