    the churn to gather the lumps of butter. When it is churned it is rocked and all the butter is gathered into a roll. The butter is taken off with a cup dish. It is made into prints with a wooden spade. The milk that is left is called "butter-milk". Buttermilk is given to pigs and calves and is sometimes used for making bread.
    A pinch of salt is put into the churn before the churning commences, in case the fairies would take the butter.
