    Our little town, you know
    Were Emmett and O'Rourke
    And the brave Mac Dermottroe.
    They did not retreat
    But did defeat
    Their opposition clan
    And that acre spot
    They quickly got
    For the honest working man.
    The house of old,
    Where rain and cold
    Came forcing through the thatch
    Is now defaced
    And is replaced
    By better ones to match
    Where each labouring man
    With comfort can
    Sit down to his humble meal.
    And here through life
    Each man and wife
    Is sheltered from the gale.
