    one man has a scissors and clips a little hair off, another man puts a little radel on and so on like that. Cows are driven loose to the fair but horses are taken by a halter and the halter is given away. The great fairs of the year in the local town of Carrickmacross are the Christmas Fair and the May Fair. There are some places in which the fair is only held once every year and it is considered a very big day because of that. There are special fairs held for the sale of sheep and horses. In towns in the Midlands there is a special fair day for the sheep and in some places the fair is held for a couple of days for example in Ballinasloe where the sheep fair is held one one day and the horses next day and so on.
