    those who had not either would get the goods on credit for a while. My father does not remember goods being bartered in this district. The custom of labour being given in existence in this district but not so common as it used to be.
    In former times markets were held in towns and are still held there. Some coins and types of money have now gone out of use such as the tenpenny bit, the farthing, and half-farthing, the five-shilling piece and the double florin.
    "Tick" is the word commonly used in this district when small things are got without ready money for a short time. The word credit is generally used for larger sums for longer periods. When people in
