  1. A very old man who is dead about eighteen months lived in this neighbourhood Go ndeanaidh Dia trocaire ar a ainm. Although he owned a small farm of land he earned a livelihood mostly by tailoring, and was always spoken of locally as the tailor. He was a small man of about five feet, seven inches, stoutly built, and had a remarkable resemblance to a bag of Indian meal. he lived to the great old age of one hundred, and three years.
    The tailor had always a great reputation as a weight carried, and his feats in this respect were the talk of the country side.
    One story is told about him which will make his name immortal at least in the district where he lived so long. It was the custom where he lived to store butter in tubs or firkins until these firkins were filled.
