    start of the churning.If he did not the churn failed.If a man went out smoking a pipe while the churn was making it did not make until he returned.The churn was generally made in the kitchen.In very hot weather the cream sometimes got sour.The old people put sand under the cream and a horse nail into it this kept the cream fresh.It was always done when there was thunder.
