- (continued from previous page)It is also said that by abstaining from meat on St. Stephen's day, people would not get any sickness throughout the year.
On May Eve the people shake the Easter holy water on the four corners of the garden, and on the crops and they also sprinkle it on the horses and cattle. They also sprinkle it in every room in the house. When a man is beginning to plough, the woman of the house sprinkles Holy Water on him and the horses for luck. Also on St. Blaise's Day hundreds of people go to the Friary in Ennis to get their throats blessed. They go to the Blessed Wells on certain days. Those days are Tuesdays and Thursdays.- Collector
