There is a special field for fairs in Ennis and near the public roads "Toll"is paid on cattle that would be
sold , but in Spancilhill it is paid whether they are sold or not.It is paid to people who have the rights of fairs.Different "tolls"are paid in different places.They generally gave "earnest"long ago,but they do not now except on horses."Toll"is given to pay for the damage done in the The Fair Green.
