    red hat with a curl on the top of it also. He lives in a hollow in a tree and he comes out every day to work. He takes his stool, hammer, and last with him and works all day at his fancy shoemaking. He is supposed to have a crock of gold down under the ground and he keeps guard over it while he works. Very few ever get a chance of getting his money. I never heard whether he helped anyone or whether he punished anyone who tricked him.
