- The people of Cratloe would not wear shoes very often they would go barefoot. They would go to towns barefoot
There was a man in Cratloe named John Mc Mahon and he would never wear shoes. He would walk on thorns and they would not hurt him. They often saw him walking over a white thorn bush.
Nowadays children do not go barefoot because their mothers would be afraid their feet would get hurt. Long ago the children wore nailed boots in Winter and they went barefoot all the Summer.
Nowadays the children wear light boots in Winter. In Summer they wear sandals and sometimes shoes.
Long ago the people would walk on the dew early in the morning before sunrise to harden their feet.
