  1. There are a few forts in this district. It is said that they are there since very early times and that it was the chief of the place built them.
There is one quite near our house in Redgate and it is said to be haunted. Stories are told of animals that are seen there and of crying that is heard.
There is another one over the road near Meelick House. A tree was cut down there and a sighing wind kept blowing about the house of the man who cut it down. He took back the tree to the fort and the wind ceased.
There is another fort on the hill. The man, on whose land it is, ploughed a drill into the fort. Immediately the chains fell off the horses and they refused to move. The man, seeing what he had done turned back the drill and the horses moved off.
Tras-scríofa ag duine dár meitheal tras-scríbhneoirí deonacha.
