  2. The farmer's wife long ago got her outfit after she was married her distinguishing dress was a bonnet and veil a cape of cloth or silk and a dress of cashmere or silk.
    This out fit lasted a long time as a married woman was supposed to look a married woman. The dress told if she were married or not. This bonnet often was freshened up with a new rose or feather. I knew one woman who wore the green shawl and the white bonnet whe was married in for
