    Now he wasn't long in College till the Revd. Bishop Brown
    Came viewing those Collegians he viewed them all around
    He spied our noble hero he marked him above them all
    He was the first he did discourse and on him he did call
    Says he my mother she is a widow and of a low degree
    But she'll do her whole endeavour to make a clergyman of me
    Study hard by night and day the bishop he did say
    And I'll send you home a credit for your country boys to see.
    Now when our young man came home ordained
    The neighbours were glad to see
    And how they came to welcome him
    They ran in twos and threes
    Particuarly his own dear friends to welcome him they ran
    And you never saw such welcome as they gave the widow's son
