    There was a rich man in the place
    As rich as a duke or knight
    He had an only daughter, she was a beauty bright.
    Said she unto her father this young man too I must go see
    For before he went to college he was a school boy with me.
    She was brought into the parlour where she had both cake and wine
    Says she unto our hero I'll have you to resign
    Says he my noble lady not for all your fair estate
    Will I resign my Hole State I'll be faithful unto death.
    She charged him with seduction, arrested he must be
    Tried and now found guilty a felon for to be
    The court it was just over, and the judge he seemed unwell
    When through the gloom a horseman came flying like the wind.
