    Farewell Cloonfad my birthplace
    I now must bid a-dieu
    To all my friends and comrades
    And kind old neighbours too.
    My time now has come at last
    Like some good men before
    Tomorrow at the break of day
    I'll leave you Cloonfad Mor.

    And tonight before I go
    I'll take my staff in hand
    Until I visit every house
    Within the old townland
    I'll go to see both young and old
    My last farewell to take
    Until I see Cloonfad again
    And the banks of Balla Lake.

    Farewell to Lisanoran's groves
    Where oft times I have been
    Among the dales and hazels
