On CHristmas eve night the cows on the farmyard should get a sheaf of oats for their last feed. When this is given the cows supply the family with milk and butter for the year.
The cow is milked for the last time on a Sunday when putting her dry in order that she may calve in the daylight.
When the calf is born an egg is put down its throught shell and all. This will protect the calf from blackleg.
