- When Old Kilcullen was the the town, there was a fair or market there. This was held every Saturday. Most of the people brought donkeys and carts while others came on foot.
The fair consisted of many vegetables such as, cabbage, potatoes, turnips and other things. More brought home-made oaten-meal eggs, chickens, hens. When those were sold the weeks groceries were bought, or else they were given to the shop keeper for the groceries. When people got goods without money it was said they were getting them on "tic"- Collector
