We stood awhile intent upon the scene, feeling quite sure we were in presence of a blending of dull earth and heaven serene. Amon we see the beauteous maiden move, and coming towards us, with a queen-like mien, she greets us, with a smile of bashful love. So soft, so delicate, so sweet she came, a lustrous welcome glistening in her eyes, that she at once did veneration claim. Smiling from joy, and blushing from surprise, her dove-like eye and damask cheek aflame, she leads us into where the infant lies.
