When Parnell asked the people what would they do to a tenant who bid for a farm from which his neighbour was evicted, he was answered by cries of "shoot him".Parnell said there was a more Christian and charitable way of dealing with the grabber, and one which might give him an opportunity of repenting. This was it. When a man takes a farm from which another has been evicted you must shun him on the roadside when you meet him; you must shun him in the streets of the towns; you must shun him at the shop counter; you must shun him at the fair and market, and even outside the house of God. By doing this you will make him feel ashamed of his crime, and you may be sure that no man of common sense will hold out against public opinion.All branches of the Land League agreed to use this method.A few days after Parnell's speech Captain Boycott was serving processes for nonpayment of rent on the tenants in this district.(continues on next page)- Collector
