The reason that this field is called the Soldier's Meadow is that a long time ago there lived an old soldiers named Paddy Fisher in a little house on the top of the Castletown School Bray and the land from that place out to the Lis a Mhaididh Road was called "The Soldiers Meadow".
   The reason that this lane is called "Mackie's Lane" is that a long time ago when old William Maccoy was going about begging he came up the Darney Road one night and feeling very tired he lay down on an old lane which cut off this road. He fell asleep but never wakened, he was found
