    is on their milk. The butter-milk is very useful for feeding pigs.
    If a stranger comes into the house while the churning is in progress he must give a brash at the churn. If anyone comes in and asks for a drink while you're churning he should be given a drink of water for if you don't he will charm the butter off the churning. Long ago the witches used to take the butter from the churn. The only guarantee against that was to make a staff out of a row tree that was not planted.
