   1. What will the next move be, O, wise old wizard of Time?
   Will the world engage in another great war and our youth be cut down in their prime?
   With all the love ties severed, and in anguish and grief of soul.
   Be forced to pass through the shell and gas, to dig in a hole?

   2. What are the wise Gods planning say, oh Wizard say!
   Will the moneybags once more open, will they do it the same old way?
   Will they lend it to save the nation on bonds that are more than secure
   And when all is done, and the danger’s gone, collect it again off the poor

   4. Must the toiler do the fighting and when HE has the victory won
   Must he then pay through the noddle for the good work he has done?
   Must he fight for the gold he dare not touch and comfort he shall not share
   For a land – ah, where has he a land? Oh wizard? Come tell me, where?

   5. I stand on the brink of the river and I’m tired enough of life
   When I look at my half-clad children, my drudge and careworn wife.
   And I note the cost of living rising day by day
   Ever upon the upward grade to a price I cannot pay.
   And wizard, I wish you could answer a question that runs through my head –
   Will the man at the top of the ladder still fix the price of the bread?

   6. Where is the good Samaritan, when will they play the game?
   When will we meet together a little bit more the same?
   Who will preach the gospel to teach the gabbing elves
   The good and holy maxim, ‘Our neighbour as ourselves’
   I feel the pinch of the present, the future I cannot see –
   Oh! Wizard, I’d like you to tell me, what will the next move be?
