There are the implements the tailor has. A sewing machine, needles, thread, sissors, tape measure, pins, thimble and pressing irons and the patterings showing how to cut out the garment. The cloth mostly used for shirts are linen, woolen, (flannel) flannette, cotton. These are the only cloth shirts are made from.
Long ago the people used to spin their own wool and make their own stockings. They used to spin the wool with spinning wheels. There are few spinning wheels to be found in this district now. The spinning wheel is worked with the feet nearly like the sewing machine only the wheel of the spinning wheel is larger than that of the sewing machine. The spinning wheel is made of wood. In the west of Donegal yet all the people spin their own wool and many of them weave their own bedclothes such as blankets.
