Over one hundred years ago all the people in this parish had to pay tithes for the upkeep of the Ministers of the Protestant Church here. The tithes were lifted in money in all the townlands except in the townland of Glebe. The cows of Glebe had to be brought to be milked, and where most of Glebe gardens are belonged to the Minister also. At that time there was no Rectory in Glebe, but when the Rectory was built in Glebe the tithes still had to be paid, and they had to be paid longer in Glebe than in any other part of Desertegney, and until about seventy five years ago tithes were still lifted in Glebe, as the Ministers claimed Glebe as their own townland. This Rectory was sold about fifteen years ago. McKinney now owns it.
There is a standing stone in a field beside this house which was once the Rectory. This tall stone is over six feet above ground, and men have dug to find the base of it, but after digging over a yard deep they ceased as they saw no end to the stone. It has no marks on it and it stands so erect that it can be plainly seen from the county road which leads to Dunree fort.
