- We have two cows at home and one horse and one goat, and one calf. The cows are tied by the neck to a stake with chains. The horse is just in a loose box. When you are driving the cows in or out to the field you call "Chay!Chay!" and when you are driving them in you call "How!How!"
The horses fodder is straw, oats, and turnips. We get our horse shod in a forge about a quarter of a mile from our house. Every six weeks we get him shod. We do not clip out horse.
We set eggs every spring, we set the hen away from the others and put fifteen eggs under the hen. You set them three weeks and you know when the chicks are coming out because the eggs are chipped.
