Skerries, Co. Dublin. The boys long ago did not begin to wear boots until they were about ten years of age.
In olden times the men wore shoes and the women wore boots.
Long ago when people had finished washing their feet in water they would throw a red hot cinder into the water and say "God be merciful to all the souls in Purgatory." They would then throw the water out.
