   flour bread. Oat bread was the common bread that was used. This bread was made in different ways such as in a griddle or sitting beside the fire. This bread was made in two different ways like a scone or in another way which is called a "bounack". A "bounack" is hard thin bread which was the most used in those times.
   It was not often that beef or bacon was eaten. It was nearly always the same thing over again, that is potatoes and salt.
   Some of these foods are gone out of fashion such as oat bread and porridge. In winter the people boiled a pot of potatoes and ate them before they went to bed. The old people ate certain food on different occasions such as pancakes on Pancake Tuesday and eggs on Easter Sunday. Tea was first brought to Ireland about a century ago. Before the cups came into use the people used noggins. These vessels were made of wood and shaped like an ordinary mug.
