- There are no Spinners or weavers in this locality. The only one I knew of was my grandmother. Her name is Mrs. John Fahy. She lived in the townland of Peterswell, not far from Gort, but is resident in County Clare, at present.I did not see the spinning wheel she had, but she told me all about it. She used to make her own coats, men's cardigans, girls' dresses, jumpers and stockings. She used to sell all the wool she would have over, and sometimes get prizes for it. She used to dye the wool when she would have it spun. Then she used to knit jumpers for all the family for the winter. The jumpers used to be very warm, and they used to last for a long time.(Teresa Dunne, Fairfield)
