Chalk Sunday: Grown-ups who are not married are chalked by their neighbours.
Holy Thursday: People are specially devotioned on that day.
Good Friday: In our grandmother’s time nothing would be left hanging on Good Friday. Clothes would be taken off lines, onions hanging from rafters would be cut down, and no woman would leave her hair pinned, but would let it down her back. The first meal was eaten at 12 oclock and consisted of glummey, an oaten bread with black tea. The oatmeal for this was steeped in water for 2 or 3 days, then drained through straws and boiled like porridge. Salt or sugar was added. That evening a little this porridge was eaten. Easter Saturday: People stayed up till after 12pm and had a feast rejoicing that lent was over.
Easter Sunday: People got up before dawn and saw the sun dancing and ate as many eggs as they were able on that day.
Whit Sunday: Children were forbidden to swing or to play for if they were injured on that day it was thought they could not be cured.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
