    People had three meals a day in olden times. The meals were breakfast dinner and supper. The breakfast took place at half past six, and the dinner at half past twelve, and supper at seven o'clock. People worked in the morning before having food. The breakfast was of oaten-meal porridge, the dinner of potatoes and herrings and sometimes mutton.
    Milk was drunk with the meals, both sour milk and new milk. If the family were a large one, the table would be pulled out on the middle of the floor for meals, if there was a small family the table would be left near the wall.
    Oaten meal bread was eaten, it was made of home grown oaten meals, and milk, and a pinch of salt and baked on a griddle.
    Very seldom meat was eaten, except
