There is a well in Gubacreeny called Saint Marshal's well.

    (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)
called St Marsels well. It cures animals and people also and when it drys up in the Summer time the people use the clay out of the bottom of the well. The way they get the cure is the people go to the well and bring three stones with them. The people kneel at the well and say five our fathers and five Hail Marys. Then they go round the well and throw a stone up on the heap. They do this three times and throw up a stone each time. When the people go to the well they alway leaave a medal or something behind them. There is another holy well situated in Ballyshannon which is called the Abbey well. The people visit the Abbey well on the 15th of August. It is situated near the sea.
