- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Long ago marriages took place in the houses. The priest read Mass and blessed the house in which the bride and groom were going to live. At the wedding in olden times the people drank a drink called "póitin" but always before they tasted it themselves they took half a pint of it and split it under the smallest tree in the forth. This they believed they were giving to the faries. On one occasion a man was after making "poitin" and was on his way home carrying the poitin in three vessels.
He was in a hurry and forgot to spill the half pint under the tree.
Suddenly he heard a strange noise behind him and turning round he saw a small man behind him about the size of a large doll dressed in red.
