  1. Long ago there was a man in the townland of Drumhanny and his name was Philip McGovern. He had a cooper's shop. He would go to the wood and buy an oak tree and cut it into joints in the wood and draw it home with the horse and cart to the house.
In them days there were no sawmills and they used to have to cut the timber with hand saws at his shop. This man when he brought the timber home he sawed it into staves and turn it into churns, firkins and piggings. Piggings were for holding milk until it was fit for churning. Churn was for churning milk.
Firkins were for holding butter. When the firkin would be filled with butter a white cloth would be placed over it and then the lid of the firkin would be placed on in such a way as to have it air tight. The farmer would then bring it to the market in Ballinamore to sell it to butter buyers.
