  1. Long ago there lived a sea-king named Durfulla who had one daughter whom he dearly loved. About this time there lived in Ballyheigue Castle a family by the name of Cantillon who were the landlords of the whole parish.
    This princess, the sea-king's daughter forfeited all her wealth in order to marry Florence Cantillon and by doing so, she displeased her father as this boy was only a commoner. She did not enjoy much of her married life, because a few years afterwards she died and the King ordered the sea-folk that she should be buried in the local cemetery and this order was carried out.
    The father was so attached to his daughter that he could not be separated from her, and in order to be united with her grave, he cut away the land
