- A Hidden TreasureI have often heard the story, about how once a treasure was hidden in Seafield near the seaside [roost?] of Strandhill. It is stated that it is a crock of gold but no living person can touch it. The gold is hidden in the land of Mr P Hibbs and is carefully concealed by a large flag which cannot be removed.Old people of the parish say that if a bottle of Holy Water is thrown under neath this flag the gold will melt and they also declare that it must be the Devil or the fairies that are taking care of it."So it must"If what we hear be true we believe that a party of men once went hunting for this treasure.
