- Long ago the kind of bread the people used was oaten meal cake and potato cake. Flour was ground in Curry about 20 years ago. Some of the people in this district got flour made there. There was an oaten meal mill in Bunninadden. The people of this district brought their oats there and got it ground into oaten meal. They made cakes of that.
To make oaten meal cake they put a pinch of salt with oaten meal, wet it with water and mixed it into a thick paste. There was a stand that they used to put the cake against and put it standing in front of a well lighted fire. They had to keep it turned often until it was baked. This stand was called a griddle.
To make potato cake the potatoes were well boiled, then peeled and mashed very finely. Flour and a little salt was mixed with the potatoes. It was wet with a wee drop of milk and when the cake was ready for putting(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
