- When a new house is built it is unlucky for the chimney to fall.
A new house must not be built on a path - a house (used by fairies).
A house was once built on a fairy path and the chimneys fell every time they were built, however the people were very determined and kept building the chimney and when they went to live the father and mother and two children died all inside one week.
At night dont through out dirty water as it is very unlucky lest it falls on a fairy path, it must be thrown out. A noise must be made and say in a loud voice
"cugaibh, chugaibh uisge salach"
When you cut a tree in a fort leave a good stump for the fairies to tie their horses to.- Collector
