- There were alot of very interesting games played by the peasants at the peat fires of long-ago. There was a game played called "Brogue about." A crowd of children would gather in a ring and one would stand in the centre. Then they would get a straw rope and pass it on from one to the other and occasionally strike the one in the centre. If the one in the centre found out who struck with the rope he had to take their place. There was another game played called "Pins" Two children played it one had a pin in there hand and the other one had to tell which hand the pin was in. The one who was searching for the pin had to recite the following rhyme.
Hippitee, Hoppitee play the pin open the door and let the poor in.
Whether I win or whether I lose here is the hand the pin lies in.
If the seacher did not win it had to continue searching till it found the pin.
There was game played called "Bugginale" It was played with a teaspoon. The(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
