- A lone bush.
There was a man once. Every night he used to go card-playing. He would not come home until it was very late in the night. One night when he was coming home it was very dark and in the middle of Winter. He had to pass by a big bush on the road-side. This bush was situated about a quarter of a mile from the Ballymote road. There was supposed to to be a ghost at this bush. This man did not think about the ghost. When he came as far as the bush he saw a black man on the road-side. He cycled as fast as he could. When he passed the bush, he looked back and he saw the fairy man coming after him. He followed him to the end of the road and then he disappeared. The man did not see him any longer. He did not go card-playing for a month after that. It was a very wet night and the fairy man had no overcoat. He was standing by the bush. This was supposed to be a lone bush. Some time ago a branch was broken off it. Every night since that time it is said that there is a ghost to be seen there. This bush is near Carrowreagh school. It is there over a hundred years. It is a blackthorn bush.
