- It is said that the weather can be judged by the behaviour of certain birds. If the migratory birds appear and are heard in the early Summer it is a sign that the warm weather is approaching. If they remain longer with us than usual it is a sign that cold weather is not yet near hand. When the swallows fly high it is a sign of fine weather and if they fly low it is a sign of rain or that poor weather is drawing near.
When birds fly inland it is a sign of approaching storm and if they fly seawards it is a sign of continuing good weather. If the crane flies towards the bog it is a sign of bad weather and if it flies away from the bog it is a sign of good weather.
