  1. On Beggars
    There are several beggars in this district but they travel mostly through the district around Puck Fair and Easter. Some of the beggars call to the same house very often and anything they see they are sure to ask for a bit of it.
    The beggars of long ago were supposed to be in the fairies and to be able to cure people of sickness.
    Although the names of the beggars are known the people do not know where they came from. The beggars tell different names every time they come. Dannie Coffey and his brother Mike and their father often came around. Bridge Curran and a Coffey woman that is called 'big noney' seldom came to this district but when they come they are always grumbling.
    When 'big noney' comes into a house she praises and thanks them greatly but when she goes into the next house she says that the people in the house she left never gave her a bite to
