    Unlucky birds and animals
    The wagtail used to be caught and done to death by sticking a red hot darning needle through its body It was called by the old people "the devils big needle". There is no tradition of the reason of the name.
    The robin was always a lucky bird and was always well treated. The story of its red breast coloured by our Saviour's blood is known everywhere.
    A weasel is a lucky animal especially if it lives near a house, possibly because where the weasel lives there are no rats to be found. The weasel is their natural enemy.
    Many stories are told about the cleverness and other qualities of the weasel.
